In 1813 our family built the first continuing cotton
mill in the South-the Schenck-Warlick mill in Lincolnton, North Carolina.
In those days, conestoga wagons regularly rolled in loads of raw cotton
to be traded for yarns from the mill's spinning frames. The mammoth textile
industry that blanketed the South could trace its roots back to this single small
beginning.
How did the name "Ansley" originate?
Ansley is an old family name and the first name of the wife of the current
CEO. It is a tradition among Southern textile company owners to name their
mills after prominent women in their lives.
